Our Father In Heaven – for SAATB – with optional rehearsal piano
A setting for The Lord’s Prayer as set in Common Worship, the modern
liturgy of the Church of England. This should be sung ‘a capella’ with
the piano only used for rehearsal, but strings/winds could support
or lead-in the singers if desired. My original idea was to use this
as a sung prayer at the appropriate moment in the service, but it could
go equally well as an Introit to the service, or a link to prayer
Three Choral Responses for The Eucharist
Arranged for SATB – with optional rehearsal piano.
Golden At My Feet – for ATBB with Oboe obligato
A Glee is a song for mixed voices, in a popular, friendly style,
much loved of the Victorian English. It can be about anything as
long as it is sentimental and a bit bawdy – glees are the forerunner
of the American barber-shop quartet. I wrote this nugget at Kneller
Hall for a choral competition.
There Is No Rose Of Such Virtu – Choral Anthem with Organ or Piano
This is a Christmas piece. Its traditional (olde English) words
allow it to be a carol, a processional piece for a church service
or a concert hall opener. The organ part is difficult and will need
a full organ to bring it off.(It hasn’t any registration and will need
organizing into appropriate changes). The piano accompaniment
option will work with a smaller choir. It has also been arranged
for chamber orchestra.
